With 3M™ Safety and Security Window Films your windows can be transformed from your weakest link to a source of strength, helping to protect your home and your family from threats such as break-ins and severe weather events like hurricanes. 3M™ Safety and Security Window Films are designed to help hold the glass fragments together, reducing potential injury from flying glass during severe weather. Because these films help hold the glass together, a stronger barrier is created, slowing down criminals to the point where they may choose to flee for an easier target. 3M Safety and Security Window Films are available in clear, safety-only versions, or as a combination film with both sun control & safety features.

For security, the film works great in conjunction with a glass breakage sensors tied in to your alarm system. When a “would be” intruder breaks the glass to gain entry, you alarm’s glass breakage sensor picks up the concussion and frequency of the breaking glass which in turn activates and sounds your security alarm. Now the alarm is sounding, your security provider has been notified, and the intruder is still outside unlike a motion detector which sounds once the intruder is already in your home.

Safety and Security Window Film for hurricane protection will help hold glass in place after a projectile hits and breaks the glass. This could save time and money in your cleanup efforts by reducing the chance of flying glass shards and water being blown in to your home or building. Texas Department of Insurance recommends that you protect large windows with storm shutters or plywood panels and to use tape on small windows. Safety and Security Window Film is not as secure as boarding up, but is much more effective than tape. Once the film is installed, it is in place and ready 365 days a year. It does not need to be cut, stored, or installed every time there is a threat of a storm. The Safety and Security Window Film is also backed by a 3 M ™ Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Every parent’s heart skips a beat when you hear the sound of broken glass. There are hundreds of children and elderly seriously injured every year from falling through a shattered window or door glass. Imagine the horror if your child was scared or seriously hurt because you delayed this purchase. Safety and Security Window Film is priceless when it can help save someone from pain and suffering.

Hopefully we are through with 100 degree days. As the season changes, so does the position of the sun throughout the day. We are going to see more Southern sunshine than the usual East and West. Now is the time to have 3M Window Film put on those South facing windows to help reduce heat and unwanted fading. Even though temperatures are getting a little cooler, the sun will still heat up your room and can potentially damage floors, furniture, and artwork with its harmful UV rays. 3M Window Films block 99.9% of UV rays and can help lower your cooling costs by up to 30%.

Houstonians, on average, run their air conditioner for 10 months and their heater for only 2 months throughout the year. There isn’t much of a need to have your windows work as an insulator to help keep the heat in since we run our heater for such a short period of time. We should be more concerned on keeping the heat out! Everyone is trying to find a way to save money and 3M Window Film can help you save money on your utilities without having to compromise your comfort. Stay cool, protect your furniture, and save money by having Solar X install 3M Window Film on the windows of your home.

The recent tragic weather events in Alabama and her neighboring states this past April was the worst tornado outbreak since 1974. With tornadoes there are only moments to take cover and protect your family from the devastation. The Texas Gulf Coast faces potential furry of Mother Nature every year. Thanks to the National Hurricane Center we are warned days in advance of the potential pending destruction.

The National Weather Service counts 14 major storms with winds over 111mph have hit the Texas coast beginning with the 1900 Galveston Hurricane . The question is not if we will face another Hurricane but when will it arrive. The Houston/Galveston National Weather Service has been offering a free Hurricane Preparedness Workshop since 1990 the event has grown and has garnered national attention and recognition for its effort to prepare residents before hurricane season through presentations, interactive exhibits, hurricane season forecasting and more. This year’s Hurricane Workshop will be at the George R Brown Convention Center Saturday June 4, 10 a.m. at 3 P.m. Solar X has participated in the event for years and we will be exhibiting window film products again this year.

Our prayers go out to our fellow Americans for their heartbreaking loss in the South. We have the responsibility and advantage to take precautions from the wraith and destructive of impending hurricane activity. Mark your calendar, we will see you there.
